A day trip from Santiago to the coast on March 27th, 2018, after the Doist retreat. I did Viña del Mar and neighbouring Valparaíso in this trip.

Transport

Bus from Santiago, about 90 minutes each way through the Casablanca valley. Once on the coast, walking, plus a short hop between Viña del Mar and Valparaíso. It was easy to combine in one day, as they are near each other.

Places

• Museo de Artes Decorativas Palacio Rioja: A mansion from the early 1900s, now a museum. It was an interesting visit.
• Museo de Arqueología e Historia Francisco Fonck: The one with the moai from Easter Island outside the door.
• Castillo Wulff: The small castle out on the rocks by the sea. Mostly worth it for the setting.
• Valparaíso: Next door, and the more interesting of the two if you only have time for one. The hills, the funiculars and the street art are the draw. I liked the flowered watch as well.
