In March 2018 we had the Doist retreat in Santiago, and part of it also happened in Pucón (from the 22nd to the 25th), down in the Araucanía lake district. It was a nice and short trip.

Stay

I stayed at the Villarrica Park Lake Hotel, which is on the shore of Lake Villarrica between Villarrica and Pucón rather than in Pucón itself. It's a quiet spot on the lake with the volcano in view, and it does mean you need a car or a transfer to get into town.

Transport

Flight from Santiago's domestic terminal, then a car for everything else. As we were in a group, we did everything in a bus/van, but as far as I could see, you will need a car for everything.

Places

It's been a long time since I went there (writing this 8 years later) and I don't recall the details anymore. Hopefully, I will find more on my photos and add here later

• Lake Villarrica: The lake itself, and the reason the whole area exists as a destination. The view is just amazing.
• Pucón: The town is small and geared to outdoor tourism.
