Óbidos was the last stop of the April 12th, 2019 day trip out of Lisbon, after Fátima, Batalha and Nazaré. Only about half an hour there at that time, which was not enough, so I got back in September 2026 for a second visit.

Transport

The first time, I went by van in a private tour that also went to Fátima, Batalha and Nazaré. The second time I rented a car and did the trip from Lisbon. Cars stay outside the walls; inside you walk.

The trip by car was cool, but it was very expensive 💸

Places

I'm adding a few places here, but the best of Óbidos is to just walk around and get the vibe of the town. Walk on top of the walls, which is also quite interesting

• Petro(...) restaurant: Don't fully remember the proper name of the restaurant, but you will find it if you look on Google maps. I liked the place. Good food and nice ambient.
• Church library: There's a library that was once a church. I like visiting churches (not religious anymore, but 🤷‍♂️) and like books, so this was the best of both worlds.
