My parents live in Ceará, but 7 hours by bus from Fortaleza. That means I usually get to the city when visiting them. In this page I will list a few places I visited in my trips to Ceará.

Stay

I stayed at the Hotel Casa de Praia, in the Iracema beach in 2013. It's outdated, so take it with a grain of salt. The place was nice, right in the beachfront district closest to the centre, and it's within walking distance of the Dragão do Mar cultural centre.

I stayed at the Dom Pedro Laguna Beach Resort in 2024. It's on the beach, a fair way out of Fortaleza (but still considered here instead of Aquiraz), and it's the sort of resort you don't really leave. Went there with kids and parents.

Transport

Pinto Martins airport is the hub for the whole state, and I've spent a lot of hours in it over the years — it's where the connections to the interior and to Jericoacoara start. Several of those waits were overnight.

If you're heading to Jericoacoara, the transfers leave from the airport and the agencies around it. I've used For You Receptivos for that on several trips. Expect a long road journey either way: the bus legs out of Fortaleza add up to well over 1,000km across my trips.

Places

• Praia de Iracema: The beachfront district, and the easiest base if you only have a night or two.
• Centro Dragão do Mar de Arte e Cultura: The cultural centre, with the Cinema do Dragão inside it.
• Beach park: It's an acqua park, quite big and nice. It has one of the tallest (or fastest?) water slide in the world.
