In February 2026 I spent a week in the Oise, north of Paris, based in a caste in Le Grande Mello for the Todoist retreat. Chantilly was the day out from there, on the 26th.

It was worth it, the Chateau was nice to visit. It's a palace/museum, and you can also visit the gardens around. I enjoyed it.

Stay

It was a day trip to see the Palace of Chantilly, not much to recommend in terms of stay.

Transport

We got a bus from Le Grand Mello as a day trip with my colleagues.

Places

• Château de Chantilly: The main reason to come. The château holds the Musée Condé, which has one of the better painting collections in France outside Paris, and the grounds are large enough to fill an afternoon.

Food

• La Capitainerie: The restaurant in the château's old kitchens. Chantilly cream is the local thing and this is the obvious place to have it. It's not extraordinary, but it's good and... well... why not? 😅
